Surprise!

I was feeling nauseous for the past few days. Couldn’t point out what was the cause. Went for my classes feeling dizzy and nauseous, waiting to go back home to hit the bed. I ruled out pregnancy. I hoped I wasn’t pregnant. July was a month of pain and recuperation. I hurt my back and went for an X-ray. Then, it was the bad flu and fever that took almost 2 weeks to clear. So, I was hoping that I wasn’t pregnant. But the nausea didn’t go away. It continued for few days.

Then, as I was lying on the couch with my eyes closed feeling exhausted, I saw a vision. I saw myself underwater reaching out to a child’s hand. The vision was so vivid I couldn’t ignore it. I went and bought a home pregnancy test kit. The next morning, I found out I was pregnant. It felt surreal. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know whether to rejoice or to worry about the X-ray I had weeks before not knowing I was pregnant. We went to see the gynae just to get a confirmation. The gynae did a scan and he showed us the baby’s heartbeat. I can’t describe how I felt at that moment. When I told him about the X-ray, he shrugged it off telling me not to worry about it. I felt relieved. Can’t believe I got pregnant this fast; with a 14-months toddler still nursing. I stopped breastfeeding a month later.
